Dermal Fillers in Rapid City, SD

At LiveWell Medical Aesthetics in Rapid City, SD, we use FDA-approved dermal fillers – including Juvederm, Restylane, and RHA – to restore lost volume, smooth deep folds, and define facial features without surgery. Treatments are administered by Courtney Vesely, FNP-C, and our licensed nursing team, starting at $700 per syringe.

Unlike neuromodulators, which relax muscles, dermal fillers physically restore volume and structure. Results are visible immediately. Whether you want to restore cheek volume, soften nasolabial folds, define the jawline, or improve the appearance of under-eye hollows, we customize every treatment to your facial anatomy and goals.

Dermal Fillers at LiveWell

At LiveWell Medical Aesthetics, we specialize in enhancing your natural beauty through personalized dermal filler treatments. Dermal fillers are an effective, minimally invasive solution to restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and rejuvenate facial features. Our expert team tailors each treatment to the unique needs of our clients, ensuring that you leave looking and feeling refreshed and confident. Whether you're looking to plump lips, soften fine lines, or contour the face, our approach is rooted in safety, precision, and delivering naturally beautiful results.

A dermal filler treatment at LiveWell typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated. A topical numbing cream - typically used for lips - is applied before the procedure to minimize discomfort. Most fillers also contain lidocaine, which provides additional comfort during the injection.

During the treatment, your injector will cleanse the skin, mark placement points, and administer the filler using a fine needle or microcannula depending on the area. You may feel mild pressure or a brief pinch. For sensitive areas such as the under-eye or lips, your injector will take additional care to ensure your comfort throughout.

After the treatment, you can see results immediately, though some initial swelling can temporarily mask the final appearance. Your injector will review aftercare instructions with you before you leave.

LiveWell Medical Aesthetics offers a variety of FDA-approved dermal fillers to address different needs. Our selection includes hyaluronic acid fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, which are excellent for hydrating and adding volume to lips, cheeks, and under-eye areas. We also provide collagen-stimulating fillers, such as Sculptra, which encourage your body to produce more collagen, offering longer-lasting and gradual results. Each filler type has unique benefits, and during your consultation, we’ll help you choose the one that best aligns with your desired outcome.

Dermal fillers require little to no downtime. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.

In the first 24 hours:

Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat (saunas, hot yoga, hot showers), and alcohol

Do not massage or press on the treated areas

Avoid sleeping face-down if the under-eye or cheek area was treated

For the first 2 weeks:

Avoid dental procedures to reduce the risk of a secondary infection in dermal fillers as well. Also avoid immunizations within 2-4 weeks of dermal filler.

Mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site are normal and typically resolve within 5 to 7 days. Bruising, if it occurs, can be covered with makeup the next day. If you have significant or persistent swelling beyond 10 days, or any concerns about the result, contact us immediately. We also offer complimentary laser treatments for bruising to help it resolve much faster.

Choosing LiveWell Medical Aesthetics for your dermal filler treatments means you’re placing your trust in experienced professionals committed to excellence. Our team stays at the forefront of aesthetic advancements and is dedicated to safe, results-driven care. We prioritize a natural look that enhances, not alters, your unique features, with a meticulous approach to detail and client satisfaction. From your initial consultation to post-treatment support, we aim to make every step of your journey smooth and rewarding, ensuring you achieve the look you desire with the care you deserve.

The Fillers We Use at LiveWell

Hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm and Restylane)

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid fillers physically add volume to the treated area, providing immediate and visible results. They can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed, making them a reversible option. Starting at $700 per syringe.

Brand Product family Common uses
Juvederm Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Ultra, Ultra Plus Cheeks, smile lines, lips, under-eye, jawline
Restylane Lyft, Defyne, Refyne, Contour, Eyelight, Kysse Cheeks, jawline, nasolabial folds, under-eye, chin, hands
RHA Redensity, 2, 3, Dynamic Volume Fine lines around the mouth and sides of the cheeks -- softens lines that become etched over time

Biostimulators (Sculptra and Radiesse)

Sculptra and Radiesse are not traditional fillers — they are biostimulators that work by prompting your body to produce more collagen over time. Results are gradual and longer-lasting (2 or more years). They are priced and discussed differently than hyaluronic acid fillers. See their dedicated pages for full details.

Treatment Areas by Zone

Volume loss in the cheeks is one of the earliest signs of facial aging. Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Lyft are commonly used to restore cheekbone definition and mid-face projection. This area also supports the undereye and can help improve the appearance of hollowing or tired eyes. Results are immediate and typically can last up to 2 years.

Hollow under-eye areas - sometimes called tear troughs - create a tired, sunken appearance that no amount of sleep or concealer fully addresses. Filler placed carefully in this area restores the smooth transition between the lower eyelid and cheek. This treatment requires precise technique and is best performed by an experienced injector. Results typically last 12 months or longer.

The lines running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth (smile lines) deepen with age as mid-face volume is lost. Dermal fillers soften these folds by restoring the volume underneath them, not by filling the line itself. Results typically last 9 to 12 months.

Filler placed carefully in this area can support the sides of the face and jawline can help support the lower face, improve overall volume, reduce the appearance of jowling, and soften the face overall.

The lines that run from the corners of the mouth downward toward the chin are called marionette lines. They can create a permanently downturned expression. Filler in this area softens the fold and can restore a more neutral resting expression. Results typically last 9 to 12 months.

Filler along the jawline can sharpen definition, address jowling, and create a more structured facial profile. Restylane Defyne and Juvederm Volux are commonly used for this area. Results typically last 12 to 18 months.

Volume loss in the temples is subtle but contributes significantly to a gaunt or aged appearance. Restoring temple volume creates a more youthful facial oval and better supports the appearance of the upper face.

Filler in the chin can improve projection, balance facial proportions, and address a weak chin profile without surgery. This is often combined with jawline filler for the best result.

Results You Can Expect

Results from dermal fillers are visible immediately, though initial swelling over the first few days can temporarily affect the final appearance. Once swelling resolves – typically within 5 to 7 days – you can see the true result. View our before and after results gallery on the Before & After page.

How long results last depends on the area treated and the filler used:

Treatment area Typical duration Notes
Cheeks / mid-face 18 to 24 months Longer-lasting in areas with less movement
Under-eye (tear trough) 12 months or longer Less movement in this area supports longer duration
Nasolabial folds 9 to 12 months Moderate movement in this area
Marionette lines 9 to 12 months Results vary by patient anatomy
Jawline 12 to 18 months Structural placement in an area with less movement
Chin 12 to 18 months
Temples 12 to 18 months Low movement area

With consistent maintenance, many patients find their results remain natural-looking and long-lasting over multiple years. Your injector will recommend a maintenance schedule based on your individual results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Lyft are both commonly used for cheek augmentation. Voluma is known for its lifting effect and can last up to 18 months in the cheeks. Restylane Lyft offers a similar result with a slightly firmer texture. The best choice depends on your anatomy and the degree of correction needed. Your injector will recommend the right product at your consultation.

Under-eye filler requires a very specific product choice and injection technique. Lighter, more fluid formulas such as Juvederm Volbella or Restylane Eyelight are typically preferred in this area because they integrate smoothly and avoid the Tyndall effect (a bluish discoloration that can occur with thicker fillers placed too superficially). This is a high-skill treatment - experience matters more here than in almost any other area.

Marionette lines are best treated with a medium-to-firm hyaluronic acid filler that can provide structural support. Juvederm Vollure and Restylane Defyne are both good options for this area - they are designed to flex with facial movement, which is important for lines near the mouth. The treatment works by restoring volume in the surrounding area, softening the fold gradually.

Duration varies by treatment area and filler type. Cheeks, jawline, and temples typically last 12 to 18 months. Nasolabial folds and marionette lines typically last 12 to 18 months. Under-eye filler often lasts 24 months or longer due to minimal movement in that area. See the results table above for a full breakdown by area.

Juvederm and Restylane start at $700 per syringe. The total cost depends on the number of syringes needed, which is determined at your consultation based on the area(s) treated and the degree of correction you are looking for. Most single-area treatments require one to two syringes. We will provide a personalized estimate at your consultation.

Yes - hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm, Restylane) can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is one of the reasons HA fillers are a popular starting point for patients new to injectables. Biostimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse cannot be reversed in the same way. Your injector will discuss this at your consultation.

Yes. Combining dermal fillers with Botox or Dysport in the same visit is very common. Botox relaxes the muscles that cause dynamic expression lines, while fillers restore lost volume and smooth static folds. The two treatments work together to address different causes of facial aging. Your injector will discuss whether a combination approach makes sense for your goals.

Lip fillers are a type of dermal filler, but the technique, product selection, and goals are specific enough that we treat them as a separate service. If you are primarily interested in lip enhancement, visit our Lip Fillers page for dedicated information on that treatment. This page focuses on facial volumization, contouring, and correction in other areas of the face. (Link: /services/lip-fillers/)
